Sparcstation10 root passwort

Hi Leutz,

ich hoffe das ist hier jetzt das richtige Forum für mein Problem.
Hab hier ne Sparcstation 10 RomRev 2.12 mit SunOS 5.3
drauf rumstehen. Das Teil wurde ewig nicht mehr benutzt udn --oh Wunder-- kein Mensch kann sich mehr an das root-pw erinnern. Ich würde das Teil aber gen zum Laufen bringen.
Hab schon gegoogelt und als workaround 2 Sachen gefunden:
1. Platte ausbauen und mit nem anderen Linux mounten und dann die shadow-Datei bearbeiten
2. mit einer anderen Sun einen jumpstart-server erstellen

gibts da noch andere Möglichkeiten. Hab gehört das es da Backdoor-pw's geben soll, aber mir konnte da bis jetzt keiner eines sagen. Wäre es möglich ein scsi-cdrom aus nem pc als boot-lw zu benutzen?
Bin ein newbie was Sun betrifft.

1) Press and hold the STOP key and then press A. You will enter the Open Boot PROM (OBP) monitor, denoted by the "ok" prompt.
2) Insert the Solaris v8 CD-ROM (disk 1 of 1) into the CD-ROM drive
3) Type "boot cdrom" and hit ENTER
4) The Solaris install will start. Select a language and local and all that stuff and let it get to the GUI interface.
5) Abort the install but remain in the GUI. Using the console window, mount the drive slice containing the root partition. For example, you might type "mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /mnt"
6) Change directory to the root partition's /etc directory (in my example, that would be /mnt/etc)
7) Using ex or even cat if you have to, edit the shadow file to blank out the password for root
8) After saving the change, reboot the machine

es gibt keine hintertür-passwörter vom bs-hersteller.

Danke das ging ja schnell...

dann muß ich mir wohl ein scsi-cdrom besorgen und irgendwie dranfummeln...das ding hat serienmäßig ja keins..

So habs hingekriegt, danke für die Hilfe.

Hab da noch zwei Fragen:

Es ist jetzt SUNOs 5.3 installiert...was ist denn das für eine Solarisversion...ich tippe auf 2.3. Bräuchte dann noch einen Link wo ich Dokus dazu herbekomme.Wenns 2.3 ist siehts bei SUN selber schlecht aus.

Was für ein Solaris könnte ich den höchstens drauf zum laufen bekommen. Ich hab hier noch originale 2.4, 2.6 und zwei 4er Versionen

höchstens läuft Solaris 9 drauf.
Solaris 2.3 (SunOS 5.3) war das erste einigermaßen brauchbare Solaris 2.x Release.
Als richtig gut würde ich es nicht bezeichnen ;)
Wenn du es eh schon da hast würde sich 2.6 anbieten.
Das war ein gutes Release und dürfte ordentlich auf deiner Kiste laufen.
