Max. Dateigröße 2GB?

Hallo,
ich hatte hier am letzten Wochenende das Problem, dass eine Mail mit einem 8MB Anhang über 800x an ein Postfach zugestellt wurde. Nachdem die Mailbox 2GB erreicht hatte, konnte Sendmail keine Mails in die Mailbox zustellen.

Ist die max. Dateigröße auf 2GB begrenzt?

Sendmail ist nur "large file safe", nicht "large file aware". Siehe man largefile.

     On a 32-bit system, a large file is  a  regular  file  whose
     size  is  greater than or equal to 2 Gbyte (2**31 bytes).  A

     Gbyte.

  Large file aware utilities
     A utility is called large file aware if it can process large
     files  in the same manner as it does small files.  A utility
     that is large file aware is able to handle  large  files  as
     input and generate large files as output.

     A utility is called large file safe if  it  causes  no  data
     loss or corruption when it encounters a large file.  A util-
     ity that is large file safe is unable to process properly  a
     large file, but returns an appropriate error.

Sendmail kann also (zumindest bei Solaris 2.6) nicht mehr als 2GB schreiben, sollte die Mailbox aber auch nicht zerschossen haben.

Ah danke,
das hatte ich überlesen.
Das die Datei nicht größer geworden ist, hatte ja auch seine Vorteile. Man benötigt ja dann auch einen largefile-aware pop3-Daemon und der Client hatte schon mit der 2GB-Datei so seine Probleme.

Mich hat es gelehrt, dass meine mqueue-Partition größer sein muß. Die war vollgelaufen.
