Damit will Jürgen wohl sagen, dass mindestens ein SunOS 4.1.3 für die SS5 erforderlich ist.

SunOS 4.1.4 (Solaris 1.1.2) ist die letzte Version vor Solaris 2.0.

Gibt es da jetzt diese Grenze der Partitionsgröße und kann man diese Umgehen durch Patch oder anderweitige Updates?

Mehr als 2Gbyte je Partition würde ich nicht empfehlen, wenn du die Festplatte sowohl unter SunOS 4.x also auch Solaris 2.x nutzen möchtest.

Der format-Befehl unter SunOS 4.1.x bietet Layout-Templates für Festplatten bis zu einer Kapazität von 2.1 GByte. Was darüberhinaus genutzt werden will, muss dann wohl eigens festgelegt (format.dat) werden.

Eine Beispiel-Datei gibt es z.B. hier: ftp://ftp.cs.toronto.edu/pub/jdd/sunmanagers/format.dat

Interessant ist der Hinweiß in der angebenen format.dat:

# For SunOS 4.x or earlier, when partitioning, do not make a partition larger
# than 2GB (2097152 KB, or 4194304 blocks), since SunOS does not support
# partitions larger than 2GB.  This restriction is not present in Solaris 2.x
# (aka SunOS 5.x), where partitions may be up to 1TB in size.

So langsam tät ich mir die Frage stellen warum da unbedingt SunOS 4.1.* drauf bleiben soll. Eine SS-5 läuft auch wunderbar mit Solaris-7/8/9

Die Frage warum SunOS 4.1.3_U1 ist damit zu beantworten, dass es sich um einen Konstruktionsrechner handelt auf dem Software läuft, deren Neuinstallation ein noch gewagteres Unterfangen ist und wo ein Suppart seit 8 Jahren nicht mehr zur Verfügung steht. Gibt es eine Möglichkeit eines Updates auf eine höhere Solaris Version ohne die laufende Software zu gefährden? Wenn ja wo bekomme ich das entsprechende Update her????
