booten von ide-controller

hi leute,

gehört zwar nicht ganz zu diesem Forum, also bitte nicht nachtragend sein.
Wie kann ich von einem IDE Controller (logischerweise mit angehängter Platte; ist ein HPT370 Chipsatz) booten?
Platte ist Master gejumpert, und Controller steckt im PCI Slot 3 drin.

Im diag-mode steht das da:
Probing /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1 at Device 1  pci108e,1000 network
Probing /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1 at Device 2  SUNW,m64B
Probing /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1 at Device 3  ide disk cdrom

Wie lautet die boot flag?

Da wäre es schonmal wichtig zu wissen, welche Maschine du verwendest.
Fraglich ist allerdings, ob der HighPoint-Chipsatz unter Solaris überhaupt funktioniert.
Auch wenn der Controller ein eigenes BIOS hat, ist das noch nicht alles.

ich möchte da eher openbsd draufmachen, und ja openbsd unterstützt den chipsatz.
Es ist immer noch eine Sun Ultra 5.

Entschuldige bitte, das ich nicht wusste, was für eine Maschine du verwendest.
Außerdem muß ich dann mal - vor dem Hintergrund das du OpenBSD verwenden willst - ganz provokativ nachfragen, warum du die Anfrage unter Betriebssysteme Solaris stellst ?

danke für deine Antwort. Wo soll ich denn sonst die Frage stellen? Die Frage passt ja irgenwie überall rein. Die options probiere ich gleich mal aus. Wäre mal praktisch einen kleine aber nützliche Tippssammlung zu Openboot bei "Gewußt wie..." zu machen. Viele haben ja da schon Probleme

Wie du ja jetzt aus dem anderen Thread "IDE Promise Karte an AXi Board" weißt, funktioniert der Promise nicht in der Sun (AXi/U5/U10, etc.).

Folgender Beitrag wurde am 10. Oktober von Matthew Green in der Mailing-List port-sparc64 (NetBSD) gepostet:

  Has anybody used one of these (Anmerkung: Gemeint sind die SiliconImage 680 und nicht die Promise !!!) in an Ultra 10 and got the firmware to recognise it? Since the chipset is a newer version of the CMD chipset on the motherboard, it might be possible to get the firmware to recognise using the mechanism I (unsuccessfuly) tried with the Promise cards.

i didn't bother trying to make it bootable - at the point i
installed this card i just wanted my server to be stable...

i'd be surprised if your prior hack didn't work somehow...
