UltraSparcII-CPUs aus E420R in Ultra 2 nutzen

Hi,
hat von euch schonmal jemand ausprobiert, die 450MHz UltraSparcII Module aus einem Enterprise 420R in einer Ultra2 zu betreiben? Sind die zu den normalen UltraSparcII-Modulen der Ultra2 kompatibel?

Ich sage einfach mal ganz salopp "nein".
Die Ultra2 ist eine ältere Generation, die 420R ist mit der Ultra60 verwandt.

Dann sage ich auch mal ganz salopp: Die E420R ist eine U80 im 19"-Gehäuse. :)

Die U2 unterstützt nur CPUs bis 400 MHz, daher kann ich mir nicht vorstellen, daß die CPUs mit 450 MHz aus der E420R/U80 funktionieren werden. Außerdem dürften sich die CPUs auch in der Cache-Größe und anderen Feinheiten unterscheiden, was sicherlich für weitere Schwierigkeiten sorgen wird.

Zwar hätte ich hier sowohl eine U2 als auch eine U80 rumstehen... Ausprobieren möchte ich das allerdings nicht unbedingt. Da lasse ich doch lieber mrshadowing den Vortritt.  :D

Das Ergebnis wird wie folgt aussehen:
1. defektes CPU-Modul
2. defektes Systemboard
Warum?
Ganz einfach, weil die Spannungsversorgung beschädigt wird.

The UltraSPARC II, code-named "Blackbird", is a microprocessor implementation of the SPARC V9 instruction set architecture (ISA) developed by Sun Microsystems. Marc Tremblay was the chief architect. Introduced in 1997, it was further development of the UltraSPARC operating at higher clock frequencies of 250 MHz, eventually reaching 400 MHz. The die contained 5.4 million transistors and had an area of 149 mm². It was fabricated by Texas Instruments in their 0.35 µm process, dissipated 25 W at 205 MHz, and used a 2.5 V power supply. L2 cache capacity was 1 to 4 MB.

In 1999, the UltraSPARC II was ported to a 0.25 µm process. This version was code-named "Sapphire-Black". It operated at 360 to 480 MHz, possessed a die area of 126 mm², dissipated 21 W at 400 MHz and the power supply voltage was reduced to 1.9 V. Supported L2 cache capacity was increased to 1 to 8 MB.
